Sparkling rays
through a prism
of tender dew

Droplets hang
as field mice
come to quench
their thirst

A cool breeze
whispers a reminder
of cooler weather
on the way.

Get busy, get busy
there is no time
to delay!

Creatures great and
small run here and
there as the end of
autumn draws near.

The glade is a buzz,
a hub, if you will, of
busy tasks being

Scurrying up and
down the trees
packing their homes
seemingly with

Spring thaw started
this race to
repack their tiny

Autumn nears its end
are you ready
my dear friends?

  1. Tina,
This is a lovely tribute to the bustling of life as the autumn takes it’s last few breaths before the impending winter.

I have also witnessed the sparkling rays of tender morning dew, and observed creatures great and small going about the buzz of preparation for the coming winter.

Your lovely poem brought cheer into my heart today…thank you!

    Kind regards…John H.

    • Hello John,

I am pleased my words brought cheer to you. It is a beautiful time of the year. Although, some see only death and decay I see the seeding of spring growth. Without the fall, there would be no growth in the spring. Thank you for your generous comments.
      Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. What a lovely poem, Tina! Every little creature is getting ready – “with ease”, just doing what they know has to be done. Don’t we have to learn from them, put away our excessive worries, our anxiety, our unnecessary complexity, and simply “be ready” with ease, trust and joy.
    Wishing you a wonderful day!
